i’m going to tell you a story
About a little girl who couldn’t go to bed one night and begged her father to tell her a story.
Her father, a history teacher, could recall an interesting tale at the drop of a hat. So this particular night, he shared the infamous story of the late King Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette. The little girl would later find out the story ended much more gruesomely than her father had told her six year-old self. Upon hearing the tale, she was instantly hooked and pleaded for more stories.
Thus, the following nights her father recounted more classic tales of history. And as the years went on, she became more interested and loved to share her nightly routine whisperings with her friends at school.
The little girl began to retell all her father’s stories and mimicked the passion in his voice and the way he drew her in. She was a natural, and knew that’s what she wanted to do.
You see, her interest was sparked that very day she heard her father’s story. For she learned that it wasn’t the content of what her father was telling her, but the very way he could paint a picture in her mind and enlighten her consciousness with his words.
From there she knew she wanted to make others feel how her father made her feel. She wanted to share the art of storytelling in the modern world. She had found her passion.
Some years later the girl would attend the ever so famous James Madison University where she graduated with a B.A. in Media Arts & Design and concentration in Creative Advertising. Where her very job was to tell stories about real things and make it interesting enough for audiences to want to stay and listen. To twist the tales in creative ways, all while keeping the integrity of the story. Just as her father had did to keep his six year-old daughter’s attention while recounting the tale of the failed French monarchy.
PASSION PROJECTS
-
Interior design tells the story of who you are. The very environment you occupy is so personal. This is one of the reasons I’ve found designing spaces so interesting. It tells a different kind of story, one we only read with our eyes.

Furniture is like a time capsule. It’s a way to see into the past. What was trending then, how things were made, and the value of items. Furniture restoration has become a passion of mine since I’ve discovered interior design. I love learning about the stories of where pieces came from and how to bring them into our modern world.

Painting is a way I like to express myself. I don’t pride myself on having an kind of specific style, but rather a collection of inspiration from artists I look to. I love combining styles and creating pieces that I fell in love with through my design exploration.
